Founded on July 1st, 1975 in Irving, Texas by Jack Ray. After 25 years with Exxon USA, Jack started his own business as a commission agent for the Dallas area. Exxon allowed him to lease square footage in the warehouse in the Exxon terminal in Irving. They started with 2 bobtail trucks that could be loaded at the terminal and offered a full line of Exxon exclusive product.
Jack’s sons Greg and Bill started working for the business making deliveries. They quickly outgrew their space in Irving and in 1982 moved to their new property in Grand Prairie.
In 1984 they built a loading fuel rack and put four 12,000 gallon tanks in the ground. This allowed for their 3 2800 gallon bobtail trucks to be loaded on the property. In 1992 they purchased a 4200 gallon bobtail and one tractor trailer.
In 1995, they built onto warehouse #2 and added twelve 4,000 gallon vertical tanks to hold their bulk oil.
When Jack retired in 2000, his sons took over the business.
On January 27th, 2020 Douglass Distributing purchased Jack Ray Oil to expand their reach.
